Date picker and Days ahead

Engagement metrics are calculated over a period of time (date picker) and display users returning after specific days (days ahead).

Date picker

Select the period you want to focus the calculation on. Data is supported for the last 90 days and the default selection is the last 14 days.

Date picker

info

Dates are defined by UTC time.

The selected period will affect how many days are calculated and displayed in the chart and table. It will also define the period that Event Actions are detected for players.

info

Presume that you selected that retention displays for days 1 to 90. That would leave no room for users to come back, hence the data would not be reported. Selecting days 1 to 80 for example, would allow for 10 days to be reported

Days ahead

In addition it is also possible to set how many days ahead you would like to measure retention for. At the moment the tool allows for a maximum of 9 days ahead to be selected at once. These values are often referred to as Day1, Day2 etc.

Days ahead

Each selected DayX will result in a line chart visualizing the ratio of players coming back on that day vs. the players observed X days before. It is possible to select (visualize) up to 9 at the same time with values available being Day1-Day80.

info

Day1 Retention reported on the 11th December is the ratio (percent) of players playing on the 11th who also played their first session 1 day before (on the 10th).
